Lessons of Darkness (1992)- Werner Herzog

Verdict: Watch it!

Iraqi soldiers ravage Kuwait oil fields in their retreat from the Gulf War painting the sky as day made night by pillars of smoke, painting the land as unending lakes of fire and bubbling goo. Werner Herzog uses this nightmare world to create a mesmerizing hybrid film: part documentary, part meditation on and warning of future calamity, part science fiction—all gorgeous and terrifying.

With a run-time of less than one hour, you should slap yourself if you miss this visual explosion. He narrates simply and effectively using biblical language, and includes two interviews that, if even remotely true, will leave you wishing you could no longer speak. Watch it!
