Midnight in Paris (2011)- Woody Allen
Verdict: Watch it!
Owen Wilson plays a modern “Lost Generation” writer named Gil who dreams of living in 1920s Paris with Earnest Hemingway, the Fitzgeralds, and the like. When he and his fiance, Inez, start hitting a snag in there relationship while visiting the city of love, Gil’s dream becomes a reality. However, Gil soon begins to learn that Paris in the 1920s may not be as great as he imagined.
I saw Midnight in Paris because of continuous peer pressure. Thank goodness for that. Without it, I would have missed something very special. Bring your whole family to this one, even the Woody Allen haters. It’s hard not to be impressed by the balance of magical charm and subtle authenticity Woody Allen and company bring to this film. The casting is pitch perfect. Wilson in particular manages to create one of his best performances in years. And if you loath laughing, please, stay home. Everyone else—-Watch it! This may just be the best movie of the year.
