Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)- Steven Speilberg
Even though I generally hate movies about aliens, Close Encounters of the Third Kind manages to include everything I love about fiction—an obsessed and isolated protagonist, questionable moral choices, the bizarrely fascinating, an epic musical score, an epic journey, and big questions. Obviously as my favorite movie, I also feel Close Encounters incorporates these elements better than any other film.
