Italo Calvino had been planning a series of six lectures about the literary values he saw as most important for the next millennium, those being: lightness, quickness, exactitude, multiplicity, and consistency. In 1985, he died having only written the first five, which were collected and published as this book. If you want quick cheap tips for writing, look somewhere else. If you want a book that will make a lasting impact on your writing, this is your book. Each of Calvino’s values are instantly and thoroughly applicable to fiction writing. For the writers out there, Six Memos is a book to be read and devoured. Read it!
